Environmental Award - Ado Shorland

A popular Widemouth Bay man has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the environment at Pirate FM’s Local Heroes awards in association with Truro and Penwith College, held at the Tregenna Castle Resort in St Ives on Friday Night.

The award was presented to Ado Shorland, and was sponsored by Cormac.

You could say that without Ado Shorland, the north Cornwall coastline would be a dirtier place. It’s because the eco-warrior from Widemouth Bay is the man behind hundreds of beach cleans through his Widemouth Task Force.

Ado runs one of the biggest beach clean group in the UK, inspiring and motivating locals to help keep the shores litter free.

Last year, the keen surfer and marine medic even managed the time to save a number of seal of pups.

Ado had a string of nominations for the Environmental Award.

Ado Shorland’s Nomination from Debbie de ste croix

I am nominating Ado Shorland who runs the Widemouth task force in Bude for the Pirate FM Local Heroes Environmental Award. He would be such a well deserving winner for all the time and effort he puts into getting groups of people together to help keep our lovely beaches free from rubbish organising beach cleans.

Ado is also a keen surfer and a marine medic and has helped saved the lives of a number of seapups last year.

CORMAC are the proud sponsor of the Environmental Award category.
